PHOENIX — A student was arrested Thursday for bringing a gun to an East Valley high school, authorities said.
A school resource officer at Red Mountain High School found the weapon in a 15-year-old student’s backpack, the Mesa Police Department said.
The handgun wasn’t loaded.
In a letter to parents, Mesa Public Schools said the student also had two bullets and had shown the gun to other students.
Those students reported the incident to the school resource officer.
Mesa Police said there weren’t any threats made.
The student was booked for misconduct involving weapons, and the investigation is ongoing.
No other information was made available.
