PHOENIX – Authorities are on the lookout for a man with a feather tattoo on his face who attempted to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl in south Phoenix this week.

A witness reported seeing the victim being assaulted in an open field near Seventh Street and Vineyard Road, between Southern Avenue and Baseline Road, at around 8 a.m. Monday, according to a Phoenix Police Department advisory.

A witness who heard the girl screaming for help interrupted the assault, and the suspect fled.

The girl had been walking with her 8-year-old brother, but the suspect was able separate the siblings.

A composite sketch of the suspect, who is thought to be 30-35 years old, was released. He was described as being 5-foot-7 and 155 pounds with a tattoo of a feather on his right cheek.

Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at 480-948-6377 or leave a tip at the Silent Witness website.

Tipsters can remain anonymous and receive an award up to $1,000.

We want to hear from you.
