What is Halloween without a good scare or two?
How about five?
There are plenty of eye-popping, heart-stopping moments from any number of horror/thriller movies but here are five that will stick with you for the rest of your life and not just on Halloween.
Enjoy!
‘Alien’ (1979)
Everybody on the mission is sitting around the table eating and gabbing. Then one of the crew, played by John Hurt, feels a little something more than indigestion clawing its way through his chest.
Warning: Graphic scene ahead. Really, really graphic.
‘Poltergeist’ (1982)
You kind of knew something gasp-inducing was going to happen in this scene. That clown just looks evil.
‘The Birds’ (1963)
Director Alfred Hitchcock was the master of suspense. Here, Tippi Hedren’s character is minding her own business, having a smoke alone in a schoolyard. She will not be by herself for long. The build-up of the fear is spectacular.
‘The Shining’ (1980)
Stanley Kubrick ratcheted up the dread with music and the clicking sound of the wheels as little Danny pedaled around the hallways of the isolated Overlook Hotel. Warning: Then it gets downright bloody.
‘Get Out’ (2017)
Stop reading right now if you still haven’t seen the Oscar-nominated movie. OK, you’ve been warned. Hardly anybody ever expects to be hypnotized, manipulated and then terrorized by their significant other’s mother. Maybe not the first one, at any rate. Chris’ fear is palpable, from the tears to the fingers scratching at the leather chair he sits in during this encounter.
