PHOENIX — An on-demand dog walking service recently announced that it would expand its operations with a new Phoenix office that was expected to open next week.

Wag! will open a customer service center near Interstate 10 and Chandler Boulevard on Oct. 29, spokesman Jeff Davis told KTAR News 92.3 FM.

The company expects to hire about 100 people to fill the new office to field customer service calls and support business operations, according to the Phoenix Business Journal.

Davis said about 25 people have already started training.

The dog walking service first opened its services in Phoenix last year as an extension of its Los Angeles and San Francisco corporate offices.

CEO Hilary Schneider, a Tucson native and former CEO of the Tempe-based LifeLock, told the publication that the company thinks of Arizona as a “full-service operation.”

“From my perspective, it’s going back to our roots, enabling ourselves to attract high-quality talent,” she said.

Wag! was founded in 2015 by Joshua Viner, who had hoped to own a dog of his own in Los Angeles, even after his family and friends discouraged him.

“Using their background in building consumer tech companies and scaling them to millions of users, Josh and his brother Jon founded Wag! with the mission to make it easier to own a dog,” the website reads.

“Wag’s goal is to be your dog’s button on your phone.”

Users can download the app on their phones and select dog walkers between the hours of 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. each day.
