PHOENIX — Construction has begun in downtown Phoenix’s Roosevelt Row Arts District for the Cambria hotel.

Choice Hotels International, Inc. and affiliate True North Studio real estate development company announced on Thursday that the hotel was expected to be ready late next year.

Roosevelt Row Arts District is an urban area most recognized for arts, cultural events and locally-owned businesses.

Located at 222 E. Portland St., south of Interstate 10 freeway on-ramp, Cambria features 127 rooms on seven stories. This location will be the third in the Valley, joining the hotels at Phoenix-Chandler Fashion Center and Desert Ridge.

“As one of the largest and fastest-growing cities in the country, anchored by rising tourism, a rich corporate presence, and thriving arts scene, Phoenix is the perfect destination to welcome several Cambria hotels,” Choice Hotels senior vice president Janis Cannon said.

The new Cambria location will also have a rooftop pool with cabanas and a bar, open to hotel guests and locals, with views of the surrounding mountains, the downtown skyline and Margaret T. Hance Park.

“We’re most excited about being part of the Roosevelt Row Arts District, which is a top arts district in the nation and a priceless gem of Phoenix,” True North Studio founder Jonathon Vento said.
