PHOENIX — Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting during an alleged prostitution deal gone bad in Chandler on Sunday, authorities said Monday.
Joseph Caballero, 18, was arrested San Tan Valley at around 5:30 p.m., and Matthew Vacaneri, 30, was apprehended in Chandler later that evening, according to Sgt. Seth Tyler of the Chandler Police Department.
Caballero was booked on one count of aggravated assault, and Vacaneri was booked on one count of first-degree murder.
According to Tyler, the two men had taken two females to a Chandler residence to sell their services to 29-year-old Roman Medina.
An argument broke out over the price, and Vacaneri allegedly shot Medina.
Medina was taken to a hospital around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and pronounced dead, according to police.
The U.S. Marshal’s Office and Tempe and Mesa police assisted Chandler police in the case.
