PHOENIX — Law enforcement officials in Phoenix have arrested a suspect in connection to the case of a missing woman from two years ago.
Paul Steve Palandri, 59, was arrested on Thursday at his Phoenix home, according to ABC15. He is accused of killing his girlfriend, Jana Van Sickle, after she went missing in November 2016.
Van Sickle’s body was found by Gila River tribal members in a large metal gun safe that was welded shut.
One Converse tennis shoe, a beer can and .22 caliber shell casings were also found in the safe.
The safe was buried in the desert near 87th Avenue and Dobbins Road.
The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office determined that Van Sickle was shot to death.
A witness told officers last week that he heard Palandri say that he shot Van Sickle in revenge for burning his barn.
The witness also allegedly helped Palandri bury the safe on the reservation.
Palandri is being held on a $1,000,000 bond for second-degree murder.
