PHOENIX — Acclaimed Japanese restaurant chain Nobu has found a home in Arizona, and according to reports Wednesday, it will be at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
The mall, which has been undergoing renovations to its luxury wing, hasn’t set a opening date, ABC15 reported, but was to be close to Neiman Marcus.
Designs for Nobu Scottsdale have not been released.
It’s the second international chain to sign on with the mall in the past several months. In February, upscale Mexican restaurant Toca Madera announced it was opening a site there this year.
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa gained attention in the 1980s when his Beverly Hills, California, restaurant became a go-to spot for celebrities. He eventually partnered with Oscar-wining actor Robert De Niro to open a branch in New York and dozens of other cities around the world.
“Scottsdale is such a beautiful area, and Fashion Square is in the center of it all,” Matsuhisa said in a statement.
A Nobu recently opened in Houston.
The mall has been in process of making itself over since 2017. The first phase was expected to be complete this year.
Within the last few weeks, an Apple store opened at the mall, taking over the space formerly held by Barney’s men’s store. The location closed in 2016.
