Arizona teacher seeking office and electric car enthusiast join Think Tank

Christine Porter Marsh was once selected as Arizona Teacher of the Year.
An alumna of the “Red for Ed” movement that sprung up this past spring, she is one of several teachers running for legislative and other political offices in Arizona this year.
She is running for the Arizona Senate seat currently held by Kate Brophy McGee, a recent guest in the Think Tank. The winner of this race, which is in one of the few “swing districts” in Arizona, could well determine which party ends up with a majority in the Arizona State Senate.
We discuss what motivated Marsh to get involved in Arizona politics and her perspective on what our Arizona schools most need.
In our second segment, we talk to John Martinson about his electric car experience. Late this summer, Martinson, along with his son Neo, embarked on a carbon-neutral road trip from Phoenix to Canada and down the Pacific Coast in his all-electric Tesla.
He documented his trip on his blog.
We discuss why Jon and Neo took the trip, the logistical details of needing to map electrical charging stations along the way, and what they learned along the way. It is an interesting story.
The Think Tank airs on KTAR News 92.3 FM on Sunday at 1-2 p.m. and repeats at 9-10 p.m.
Podcasts are available after broadcast.
