Clarification: Afghan-French Troops story

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) – In a March 28 story on 200 French troops leaving Afghanistan, The Associated Press reported that the troops were part of France’s accelerated pullout from the country. The story should have made clear that while the 200 troops are part of the expedited withdrawal, they had already been scheduled to leave before French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced in January that France would pull out 1,000 troops instead of 600 by year-end and withdraw all combat forces by the end of 2013.
