PHOENIX — A high school in Chandler was on a precautionary lockdown Friday afternoon as officers continued to search for a woman who attempted to hit a school resource officer with her vehicle in the parking lot of the school.
Det. Seth Tyler with the Chandler Police Department said in an email that the officer attempted to contact the woman, who was not identified, as she was in her red Chevrolet passenger vehicle in the parking lot of Chandler High School.
The woman attempted to flee at first, crashing into at least one other car, then she allegedly attempted to hit the officer with her car before driving through a fence.
The vehicle was found abandoned in a neighborhood a few blocks south of the high school. Officers are still searching for the woman.
Tyler said the lockdown was for “precautionary purposes” and that no students were in danger. It was lifted around noon as officers continued to investigate.
The lockdown of Chandler High School has been lifted. Officers remain on campus investigating this morning's incident.
