HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) – An alliance of Zimbabwean human rights groups says they fear a veteran rights activist has been abducted after being last seen weeks ago.
The Solidarity Peace Trust says Tuesday that Paul Chizuze was last seen in his home city of Bulawayo on Feb. 8 and has been officially listed as missing.
The activist, aged in his 50s, helped victims of political violence and searched for other missing activists for more than two decades, the group says in a statement.
It says he never gave up campaigning for justice and they fear “he may have been murdered, hijacked or abducted by parties unknown.”
International rights groups accuse President Robert Mugabe’s loyalists of harassing and abducting activists, some having disappeared without trace.
