Report: Vietnam arrests political dissident

HANOI, Vietnam (AP) – Vietnamese state media say police have arrested a high school teacher who called for a multiparty political system.
The Laborer newspaper said Tuesday that Dinh Dang Dinh, a 49-year-old teacher in the Central Highland province of Dak Nong, was arrested last week and accused of spreading anti-government propaganda.
It said police found 19 anti-government documents on his laptop.
Police declined to comment.
Earlier this month, police in central Phu Yen province arrested 15 members of what state media called a “reactionary political organization” that was attempting to overthrow the government.
Vietnam’s Communist government does not tolerate dissent. Challenges to its one-party rule can result in long prison sentences.
