PHOENIX — National Park Service personnel recovered a body from the Colorado River last week, according to a news release.
Rangers believe it is the body of Mike Howard, who went missing on Sept. 7 when he and his wife were swept downstream while getting out of a boat.
The incident occurred near Clear Creek, river mile 85, and the body was found below Granite Rapids at river mile 94.
Howard’s wife was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center to receive treatment the day of the incident.
The park service conducted a multi-day search for Howard.
The Coconino County Medical Examiner and the National Park Service are conducting an investigation into the incident, including identification of the recovered body.
