Facing Arizona: Working to serve my community as a Phoenix officer

My name is Jenna and I am 22. I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but was raised in Ingleside, Texas, which is a tiny town — the population is less than 3,000 people.
I moved to Phoenix to become a law enforcement professional with the Phoenix Police Department. I have dedicated myself to the physical requirements and run five times a week.
I chose Phoenix because of the opportunities that are available within the city. As a whole, Phoenix has one of the best academies in the country. You are paid while you attend the academy, and they have one of the most comprehensive training regimes. After I have paid my dues as an officer, I would like to become a detective and possibly do SWAT training as well.
The end game for me is to one day work for the FBI as a criminologist. I have always been intrigued with the psychological science behind what makes a person a criminal.
I believe the more we understand about the criminal’s psyche, the better equipped we are at solving and preventing crimes.
In five years I see myself as a Phoenix officer, doing my part to put the bad guys and girls behind bars and serving my community. — Jenna
