Phoenix high school official accused of embezzling student parking payments

PHOENIX – A former attendance secretary at a Phoenix high school was charged recently with five felony counts for allegedly embezzling payments students made for parking permits.
According to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, Eunice Lopez, aka Eunice E. Lopez Sierra, was accused of stealing 151 payments made to Sunnyslope High School and falsifying documents to conceal the crime.
The amount stolen between 2015 and 2017 was believed to be around $3,400.
Lopez was indicted in Maricopa County Superior Court on Aug. 27 on one count of fraudulent schemes and artifices, one count of theft and three counts of violation by a custodian of public monies.
The charges span from May 1, 2015, to Aug. 31, 2017, almost the entire time Lopez held the position of Sunnyslope’s attendance secretary.
According to Glendale Union High School District board meeting minutes, Lopez started the job March 23, 2015, and resigned Aug. 31, 2017.
