Nevis man accused of US justice robbery released

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (AP) – A 28-year-old gardener charged in the robbery of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer on the Caribbean island of Nevis has been released on bail.
Vedel Browne was released Friday on $37,000 bail and ordered to surrender all travel documents and report to police six days a week until his next court appearance. A new date has not been set yet.
Police have said Browne is a “person of interest” but have not described his alleged role in the Feb. 9 robbery.
Breyer was attacked by a machete-wielding robber at his vacation home on Feb. 9. The suspect stole $1,000 from the judge and his guests. No one was injured.
