PHOENIX – A Minnesota-based window and door manufacturer announced Tuesday it was planning to build a campus in the West Valley suburb of Goodyear, creating hundreds of jobs for the region.

Andersen Corporation said it would invest more than $105 million and create more than 415 jobs during the first phase of its new manufacturing and distribution base for the western United States.

“Andersen is known for its quality, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly products, as well as their commitment to exemplary ethics in dealing with customers and communities,” Goodyear Mayor Georgia Lord said in a news release.

“We are excited to have Andersen become part of the major corporate presence in Goodyear.”

The proposed facility will consist of approximately 500,000 square feet and be used to make and distribute the company’s “budget-friendly” 100 Series of windows and doors.

Construction on the first phase was expected to begin in 2019, with operation beginning by the middle of 2020. The exact location was not released.

Andersen, which has its headquarters in Bayport, Minnesota, was founded in 1903 and employs more than 12,000 people in North America and Europe.

The company’s products utilize a proprietary material called Fibrex, which contains a blend of wood fiber and thermoplastic polymer.

The news came days after it was learned that Microsoft has purchased more than 250 acres of land in Goodyear. The tech giant hasn’t revealed its plans for the property.

We want to hear from you.
