PHOENIX – Rapper Coolio has joined the lineup for the Arizona State Fair, signing on for one of the last shows of the run, it was announced this week.
The 55-year-old will headline Old School Jam at Phoenix’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Oct. 26. Tickets will go on sale Friday.
The bill will also feature Petey Pablo and the Ying Yang Twins.
Coolio’s biggest hit, “Gangsta’s Paradise,” made its debut in a movie, 1995’s “Dangerous Minds.” It gained more attention on his second album, which shared the name of the single.
The record reached No. 1 on Billboard and sold more than 6 million copies around the world and has gone triple-platinum — sales of at least 3 million — in the United States.
This year’s fair runs Oct. 5-28 at the fairgrounds at 19th Avenue and McDowell Road, with concerts at the coliseum scheduled nearly every night.
“Sesame Street Live” will finish off the performance schedule on the closing day.
General admission concert series seating is free with fair admission, but tickets for reserved seats cost an additional fee.
The fair series kicks off Oct. 5 with country singer Gary Allan. The next night, the Flaming Lips will perform.
Rapper Pitbull has been scheduled to appear Oct. 17.
Fair organizers released the names of acts booked one by one, starting in late May.
