PHOENIX — People love to argue over whether certain toppings belong on pizza. Pepperoni? Vegetables? Pineapple?

But most everyone can agree that a plain, cheese pizza is always a good choice.

Sept. 5 is National Cheese Pizza Day, and there are plenty of pizza joints unique to metro Phoenix to visit and celebrate.

There are locations for a full pizza or by-the-slice options.

Additionally, some run challenges and promotions. At Venezia’s New York Style Pizzeria, teams of two can attempt to finish a 24-inch pizza in less than an hour.

Giordano’s is celebrating its 68th location opening in northeast Phoenix on the holiday with family-friendly activities and gift basket giveaways.

Starting at 4 p.m., guests will have the opportunity to take their own “cheese pull” photo and enter a contest for a $25 gift card.

All these options make it tough to choose.

But on National Cheese Pizza Day, at least everyone will agree on what to get.

Here’s a gallery of some other options in the Valley.

We want to hear from you.
