PHOENIX — One person was killed Wednesday night when a small airplane crashed near an airport in north-central Arizona, authorities said.
First responders from the Prescott Police Department, the Prescott Fire Department, and the Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority reached the single-engine plane about a quarter-mile north of Prescott Municipal Airport grounds shortly after 8:30 p.m.
The crash victim, who was later identified as 71-year-old Brian Brantner, was the only person aboard.
The Yavapai County Medical Examiner was expected to confirm the pilot’s identity by next week after checking dental records.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were investigating the cause of the crash near Ernest A. Love Field.
No other details were available.
