PHOENIX – Travelers between the Phoenix area and southwest Utah are getting a new flight option thanks to Allegiant Air.
The low-cost carrier announced Tuesday it would begin seasonal service between Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and St. George Regional Airport later this year.
The twice-weekly flights will begin on Nov. 9 and can be booked through the airline’s website.
Allegiant scheduled the flights, which take a little over an hour, for Fridays and Mondays through April.
St. George is just north of the Arizona border, about 120 miles northeast of Las Vegas.
The Nevada-based airline also is adding service to Tucson International Airport for the first time, with flights to Bellingham, Washington, and Provo, Utah, debuting in November.

A year ago, Allegiant added four destinations for travelers out of Gateway Airport: Kansas City, Missouri; Louisville, Kentucky; Omaha, Nebraska; and Boise, Idaho.
In other air travel news this week, American Airlines said it would begin a daily nonstop route from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to Heathrow Airport in London later this year.
