PHOENIX – Commuters might want to use the downtown train Friday night to avoid heavy traffic from the Rod Stewart concert and an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game.
Stewart’s North American tour hits Talking Stick Resort Arena at the same time the Diamondbacks host the Seattle Mariners next door at Chase Field.
The baseball game starts at 6:40 p.m.
The veteran hit maker’s concert, which includes special guest Cyndi Lauper, was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets were still available through Ticketmaster.
The downtown light-rail stop at Third and Jefferson streets serves both venues.
The Arizona Department of Transportation paid tribute to Stewart’s visit with a message on its overhead freeway signs referencing his 1991 hit version of “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You.”
