PHOENIX — A teacher at an elementary school in Cottonwood, Arizona, was arrested this week for having alleged sexual conduct with a minor, the Cottonwood Police Department announced Thursday.
Isabella Bowman, a 22-year-old teacher at Dr. Daniel Bright School, allegedly had sexual contact with a 17-year-old male.
The victim did not attend the school where Bowman teaches and the relationship appeared to originate outside of any school setting.
Police do not believe that any students of the Cottonwood Oak Creek District were victimized by Bowman.
“We do not believe there are any other victims at this time,” Det. Sgt. Chad Sinn said in a statement.
“However, this investigation is still ongoing.”
In a letter to parents, school Superintendent Steve King said Bowman has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.
“We have no reason to believe that any of (Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District’s) students were involved by this incident or that there was any inappropriate contact with any of COCSD’s children,” the letter read.
“COCSD is committed to the safety of all students and expects all staff to adhere to the highest ethical practices and conduct when it comes to our community’s children.”
Bowman will be charged with sexual conduct with a minor, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
