PHOENIX – Friday is the last day to request a mail-in ballot for Arizona’s Aug. 28 primary election.

“Anybody who’d like to vote by mail, if you haven’t already received your ballot, you need to request one, and you need to request one pretty quick,” Secretary of State Michele Reagan told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Thursday.

Requests must be made by 5 p.m. through your county recorder’s office. In the Phoenix area, information is available at Maricopa.Vote.

Independent voters can participate in the primary if they indicate to their county recorder which party’s ballot they want.

Early ballots must be mailed by Aug. 22 for them to be counted.

Reagan said 450,000 ballots already have been returned, with 58 being the average age of voters and women casting 51 percent of the votes.

Registered voters can vote before primary day even if they don’t use a mail-in ballot.

Early voting at live polling locations in Maricopa County runs through Aug. 24, with select sites staying open Aug. 25 and 27 for “emergency voting.”

Looking ahead to the Nov. 6 general election, Reagan’s office announced that Arizona’s publicity pamphlet will be made available via email for the first time.

The pamphlet contains information and arguments about all statewide ballot measures. Voters can elect to receive it electronically through the secretary of state’s website.

Each household with at least one voter who had registered by Aug. 10 will receive the pamphlet in the mail in October if an electronic version isn’t requested.
