PHOENIX — There’s no doubt about it: In Arizona, you’re going to sweat, especially in Phoenix.
But how does the city rank among the sweatiest?
In their fourth annual national ranking, the marketers with Honeywell Fans and Environmental Health and Engineering (EH&E) compiled the top 10 cities with the most perspiration.
Shockingly, Phoenix came in at No. 3. The Valley city lost out to not only Orlando, but New Orleans as well.
Orlando not only had the highest average summer temperatures, percentage of relative humidity and number of days above 90 degrees, the city also landed in the top five for the longest summer season.
Only two cities made the list from last year’s rankings. Atlanta and New Orleans made it for a consecutive time, while Phoenix was left off in 2017.
“In preparation for the impending heat and inevitable perspiration, this year we looked at a variety of criteria to see which cities had the longest summer season, the fewest bodies of water, the highest humidity, and the highest temperature days in a row, all contributing to a city’s ‘sweat factor’,” Dr. Ted Myatt, ScD, said.
“There were several new factors taken into account this year, including which cities had the least amount of shade due to lack of tree coverage.”
