PHOENIX — Two Phoenix parents were charged with felony child abuse after their three young sons were found to have methamphetamine in their systems.
On Saturday night, 32-year-old Lyndsay Michelle Perry called 9-1-1 from her mother’s apartment to report that one of her boys was acting strangely, according to court records.
The Phoenix Fire Department transported Perry, her sons — ages 1, 2 and 3 — and their father, 42-year-old Antonio Cantua, to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
While at the hospital, the documents said, both parents admitted they’d used meth when their children were present. Cantua said he smoked it out of a pipe and saw Perry using the drugs in the bathroom.
All three boys tested positive for methamphetamine, and the parents were arrested.
Perry and Cantua each were processed at Maricopa County Superior Court on three counts of child abuse/reckless endangerment.
Cantua was scheduled for a status conference July 30 and a preliminary hearing Aug. 2. Perry was scheduled for a status conference Aug. 6 and a preliminary hearing Aug. 13.
