PHOENIX — A former pro MMA fighter accused of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in Scottsdale was sentenced to seven years in prison Tuesday.
Rodolfo Andres Ramirez also received lifetime probation.
In June, Ramirez pleaded guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court to charges of sexual assault and attempted sexual assault.
The 29-year-old initially pleaded not guilty in November 2016, a month after the alleged assault.
Ramirez was accused of kidnapping an intoxicated 22-year-old woman after she left a Scottsdale bar.
Scottsdale police said surveillance video shows Ramirez carrying the woman over his shoulder to a parking garage.
Police said Ramirez then sexually assaulted the woman in public.
Ramirez then brought the woman to his home and sexually assaulted her two more times.
After initially denying that he performed any type of sexual assault, Ramirez later confessed to having “consensual sex” with the victim.
He also admitted that the woman could not have had consensual sex due to her intoxicated state.
