Phoenix Zoo welcomes female baby giraffe for second time in a year

PHOENIX — If you haven’t had your daily dose of cuteness, we’ve got it covered.
The Phoenix Zoo announced Tuesday it has welcomed a female baby giraffe to the world, the second to be born at the zoo in less than a year.
Imara, a seven-year-old Masai giraffe, gave birth to the baby on Tuesday, June 26, and has since been caring for her in the zoo’s giraffe barn.
Zoo officials expect Imara and the unnamed calf to remain in the off-exhibit barn for at least a couple of weeks to bond. Then, the two will be able to roam the Savanna habitat and be seen by guests.
The Phoenix Zoo will host a baby naming contest for the new giraffe, with more details to come in the next week.
