PHOENIX — A Silicon Valley information technology company announced Wednesday it was expanding to Phoenix, creating 100 jobs over the next nine months.

Milestone Technology, a managed service provider, will occupy an 8,000-square-foot office in east Phoenix.

“This is our first venture outside of Silicon Valley, and so we’re happy that expansion is here,” Nelson Eng, Milestone president and CEO, said. “We think the talent pool is here. We think the skills are available here.”

Milestone, based in Fremont, California, has 2,000 employees and provides IT services for more than 200 companies globally.

Listings for new jobs in Phoenix can be found on the company’s website.

The openings include technical support, engineering and business analyst positions.

Gov. Doug Ducey, on hand for the announcement at the new offices, at 4710 E. Elwood St., touted the state’s stature as a magnet for business.

“Since 2015, we know of at least 300 companies that have relocated to the state of Arizona,” he said.

“That’s a real testament to Arizona’s economic attractiveness, our embrace of innovation, our low tax environment, our commonsense approach to regulation and our talented workforce.”

The company’s new Artificial Intelligence and Automation Center of Excellence will be located at the Phoenix site.

“We take the more mundane, simple aspects of [IT] service and we let artificial intelligence take care of that,” Eng said in describing what makes Milestone an innovator in the field. “And then we have our more highly trained, highly technical employees doing the levels above and beyond what cannot be handled by artificial intelligence.”
