Small plane carrying two people crashes near Wickenburg

PHOENIX — A single-engine plane crashed near Wickenburg on Tuesday, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed.
The Cirrus SR22 was carrying two people when it went down about 24 miles northwest of Wickenburg.
It crashed around 11:40 a.m. The crash occurred in a remote area; Deputies had to reach the site by foot.
One of the occupants was flown to a Phoenix-area hospital, while the other did not require medical attention.
The condition of the person taken to the hospital was not immediately known. Neither of the victims were identified.
Authorities didn’t know why the plane crashed.
According to the Cirrus website, the SR22 is equipped with a whole-plane parachute system.
The FAA is investigating the crash.
