PHOENIX — Vegan food has been a staple at baseball games since the inclusion of peanuts and Cracker Jacks in one of baseball’s most famous songs, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
These days, concession stand menus have expended well beyond peanuts, Cracker Jacks and hot dogs while more ballparks have began to expand their menu’s to appease a variety of eaters, including vegans.
The animal treatment organization PETA ranked the top 10 vegan-friendly ballparks in Major League Baseball. The Arizona Diamondbacks’ Chase Field was ranked fifth place.
PETA raved about Chase Field’s Beyond Meat Classic Vegan Burger, the Sonoran Vegan Wrap with vegan chicken, Seared Tofu Flatbreads and the Vegan Field Roast Frank.
Chase Field also added some non-vegan food choices this year with the addition of Portillos and Gonzo’s Grill, proving that the D-backs have a top notch concession stand to go along with their top notch baseball team.
Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, was ranked first with vegan options that includes vegan pizza, tacos, burritos, burgers and dogs. They received a boost from multiple options provided by The Herbivorous Butcher, which is based in Minneapolis.
