PHOENIX – Maricopa County Animal Care is offering free adoptions this weekend as kennel space at its Valley shelters continue to decline.
According to a post on the organizations Facebook, the shelters have entered a code red situation as both the East and West Valley shelters are running low on space.
The Arizona Animal Rescue Mission is sponsoring adoptions on Saturday and Sunday at both locations. With the exception of Shelter Super Heroes and puppies, all breeds will be available at no cost.
Each adoption will include a license as well as a microchip.
The latest adoption event comes nearly two months after Maricopa County Animal Care offered free adoption on large breeds.
Maricopa County Animal Care’s East Valley shelter is located near Rio Salado Parkway and Loop 101 in Mesa. The West Valley location is located near 27th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road in Phoenix.
Both shelters will be open for adoptions on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
