PHOENIX — Scottsdale is one of the best places to staycation, according to WalletHub.
The website looked at 182 cities to determine which would be the best places to consider taking an in-town vacation, and which you should probably find a flight elsewhere for travel.
Scottsdale came in at No. 16.
Cities were chosen based on population size – the 150 most-populated U.S. cities, plus at least two of the most populated cities per state.
Rankings were based off categories including recreation, food and entertainment, and rest and relaxation.
While Scottsdale’s scores on the first two categories were nothing to boast about, it placed third overall in “rest and relaxation.” Cape Coral and Tampa, Florida, placed first and second, respectively.
Scottsdale was the highest-ranked Arizona city on the list.
Tucson (30), Tempe (44) and Peoria (48) were all in the top-50, while Glendale (66), Mesa (79), Phoenix (80) and Chandler (97) rounded out the top-100.
Gilbert was No. 123.
The Arizona cities got a boost in one subject in particular: Gilbert, Tempe, Scottsdale and Peoria were tied for first with Warwick, Rho. for most public golf courses per capita.
Peoria has the distinction of ranking No. 180 out of 182 in museums per capita.
So grab a suitcase, pack for a weekend and head next door for your next vacation.
