PHOENIX – Sometimes, nothing can fill that hole in your stomach better than a sweet treat with a hole in the middle. That’s why on Friday we celebrate National Doughnut Day.

Yes, Homer Simpson’s favorite baked good has its own day in the spotlight.

And if think doughnuts deserve to be feted more than one day a year, you’re in luck. The Downtown Doughnut Festival is returning to Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix for a second year on Nov. 24.

One of the many great things about doughnuts is the variety: glazed, frosted, cream-filled, chocolate cake …

Getting hungry? Well, it’s a good thing there are plenty of great spots around the Valley to scratch that doughnut itch.

We turned to Yelp to find out which ones were the sweetest. See the gallery below for the 10 best shops.
