PHOENIX — Firefighting crews were nearing full containment on a human-caused fire in northern Arizona that burned approximately 230 acres in less than a week.
The so-called Sycamore Fire was at 90 percent containment on Friday, Forest Service officials announced. It had burned pinyon juniper and grass.
Full containment of the fire was expected later that day. The only firefighting resources that remained on the scene were one helicopter, one crew and one engine.
The fire started Monday morning about 14 miles northwest of Sedona in the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness, which is in the Prescott National Forest.
No structures were immediately threatened. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Forest officials implemented an area closure on the Bradshaw Ranger District on Friday.
