PHOENIX — Another Phoenix teacher has been recognized for her hard work and dedication to her students after being named one of this month’s honorees of Mac & Gaydos’ Pay Tribute to a Teacher, a program that rewards teachers from around the area for their hard work and dedication.

Mrs. Chris Britt, a digital arts and communication, graphic design, yearbook, journalism and college, career and life teacher at Horizon Honors Secondary School in Phoenix, was selected for going above and beyond her reaches as a teacher.

Britt had been teaching for 18 years, starting in the English department, according to Matt Butler, the student who nominated her for the award.

Butler said Britt was “one of those types of teachers that cares for her students with all her heart.

“She would do anything to help one of her students whether that be spending her own lunch time helping a student with work or being there as someone you can trust,” Butler said.

Butler also said Britt currently works four jobs to support her family.

For her hard work, she was awarded $1,000 as part of the KTAR News 92.3 FM program.

She was one of four teachers to be awarded through the program in May.

Britt joins the ranks of dozens of other teachers who have been given this honor, including Anne Leroy, a special ed teacher at Stapley Junior High School, and Amye Godfrey, who teaches ninth through twelfth grade choir at Independence High School.
