PHOENIX — Two suspects, one of whom was a minor, were arrested Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping two people and holding them against their will at a Glendale home.
The Glendale Police Department said Leonardo Daniel Roman Zapien, 19, and an unidentified 17-year-old were charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, armed robbery and theft of means of transportation.
Police said Zapien and the 17-year-old assaulted two men who came into town for a car auction.
The men, who were aged 48 and 35, were allegedly told by a friend to contact the suspects and that they would allow the men to stay at the home, which was located near 75th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
The victims were allegedly confronted by “multiple subjects” when they first arrived at the home.
The subjects, according to police, demanded to know where the victims’ money before they allegedly took their personal belongings and bound their arms and legs.
Police said the victims were then able to escape and contact the department.
The suspects were arrested around 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday after officers observed them driving in their vehicle.
No additional suspects were located at the home.
An investigation is ongoing regarding the identity of any outstanding suspects and their involvement in the incident.
