We’ve all seen the pictures about people trying to cross our southern border.

But there is something else that crosses our southern border: Money. Lots of it. And it travels in both directions.

Arizona shares a long border with the State of Sonora, Mexico.

How does that economic relationship play out? Which way does this money go? What are the sectors involved? What do Arizonans sell to Mexico? What do we buy from them? What is the role of NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement between the U.S., Mexico and Canada? What are the implications of all of these? If President Trump nixes NAFTA, what would be the impact on Arizona?

Two experts join the Think Tank this week:

Patrick Welch, is a partner with Jennings/Strauss, one of the major Phoenix law firms. He is also involved with the Arizona Town Hall which is currently studying the issue of Mexico/US trade.

Emilio Gaynor is director of International Development for Chicanos Por La Causa, which has a long and storied history in the State of Arizona, and which is involved directly with these issues.

The Think Tank airs on KTAR News 92.3 FM on Sunday from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. and repeats 9 p.m.-10 p.m.

Podcasts are available after each show is broadcast.
