1 killed in morning rollover accident on Loop 202 in Mesa

PHOENIX — At least one person was killed and another injured in a rollover accident on a Phoenix-area freeway early Friday, highway authorities said.

Two vehicles, one of them an SUV, collided around 2:30 a.m. on Loop 202 East at Val Vista Drive. The SUV was upended, eventually landing on its roof, and the driver, a man in his 30s, was seriously injured.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Kameron Lee said in an email the driver of the sedan, a woman in her 20s, was also taken to a hospital. Her injuries were not life-threatening.
The wreck forced the closure of all lanes to Greenfield Road.
The road reopened around 9:30 a.m.
No other details were immediately available.
