Early ballot analysis published on Congressional District 8 election

PHOENIX — Early ballot analysis from the Congressional District 8 Special General election has been published on Secretary of State Michele Reagan’s website.
Republican Debbie Lesko and Democrat Hiral Tipirneni are running to replace former Rep. Trent Franks, who resigned in December after he discussed surrogacy with at least two staffers.
Early analysis received more than 150,000 responses and showed 48.61 percent of voters are Republican, while 27.67 percent are Democrat and 23.26 percent Independent.
There were almost 8,000 new registrants in the analysis.
More than 53 percent of the voters were women and the median voter age was 67.
Almost 50 percent of responses to the analysis came from the 65-84 year old age ranges.
Early ballot analysis came from 14 cities, with Peoria returning the largest percent of submissions.
Almost half of them were Republicans. There were 1,453 new registrants in the city with a median voter age of 63.

Phoenix had a little more than 700 new registrants, more than half of which were Republican.
Polls indicate this will be a tightly-contested race. One showed Tipirneni with a one-point lead; another said Lesko would win by 10 points. Both polls had margin of errors greater than four percent.
The special election will take place on Tuesday.
