PHOENIX — Turns out winning an award can have other consequences for restaurants, such as being forced to close for a day after running out of food.
The Stand, a burger joint in the Phoenix area, announced on Instagram that it would be closed on Monday after the restaurant sold out of everything.
“Thank you to all of the thousands that came out again to try us out this week! Thank you for your patience in the long lines!” the post read.
“To all of the people we couldn’t serve this past week we apologize and we hope you come back and see again soon! Thank you!”
But those who need to get their burger fix in will not need to wait long: The restaurant said it would be “back up and running” by 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Stand was recently chosen by Thrillist as one of the 31 best places in the nation to get a burger. It was the only Arizona eatery to make the cut.
The Stand has two Phoenix-area locations: One in Arcadia near Indian School Road and 36th Street and another in Scottsdale on Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard.
It was well-known for its famed Standard Burger, which comes with its special Stand sauce. You can also add jalapenos, bacon and caramelized onions to your order.
While the Arcadia menu is pretty straightforward, its Scottsdale counterpart also specializes in other foods — most notably, tacos.
