PHOENIX — The popular Mexican restaurant Barrio Queen will be opening a new location at Tempe Marketplace.
It is being built from the ground up and is currently under construction. It is scheduled to open in January 2019.
The Tempe location will be the fourth location that the restaurant will open. The other three are in Phoenix, Scottsdale and Gilbert.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported that the new restaurant will be in a 5,700-square-foot space between Ruby Tuesday and Thirsty Lion.
Barrio Queen has posted updates to its Facebook account, including a post that said that they were working with Earth & Images Design, Candelaria Architects, Shannon Construction and Catena Kitchen Design to create the new location.
The new restaurant will have a large patio area and a glass atrium tequila room that will be able to hold about 30 people for private tequila tastings.
“We’re being meticulous in the design and we’ll have multiple seating areas perfect for any mood, from fun to laidback,” Nash said.
The first announcement about the new restaurant was made in Facebook post on March 22. The restaurant also said in the post that it is looking at the West Side and Queen Creek as further future locations.
