PHOENIX — Drivers in the Phoenix area were encouraged to take alternate routes, as three freeways in the Valley were scheduled to either be closed or restricted during the weekend of April 6.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the highways that will be affected include the Loop 202, the U.S. 60 and the Interstate 10.

The northbound Loop 202 will be closed between the U.S. 60 and Broadway Road from 10 p.m. on Friday to 9 a.m. on Saturday to allow for the installation of freeway management technology, including traffic-flow sensors and cameras.

The southbound Loop 202 will be closed between Broadway and Guadalupe roads from 10 p.m. on Saturday to 9 a.m. on Sunday to allow for the installation of freeway management technology.

The westbound U.S. 60 will be narrowed to three lanes overnight in areas between Gilbert Road and Country Club Drive from 9 p.m. on Sunday to 4 a.m. on Monday for pavement-improvement work.

The I-10 will be closed briefly in both directions near Miller Road in Buckeye from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday for overhead utility line work. The closures will last approximately 15 minutes each.

The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at 67th Avenue will be closed for reconstruction from 10 p.m. on Friday through late 2019 for the construction of the South Mountain Freeway interchange.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, use caution and be prepared to use alternate routes during these restrictions.

We want to hear from you.
