There’s some happy news from the Salt River Wild Horse Management Group.
Clint, a two-day-old horse who almost drowned in Salt River on Thursday, is doing just fine.
Two group volunteers, Ryan and Bren Schultz, got stuck as well while attempting to save the horse. Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Lake Patrol rescued the crew, according to a Facebook post from the group.
The Facebook post said that the water had burst through a dam, sweeping away the foal in the current.
The MCSO boat arrived, helping the people and horse onto the boat.
The foal, named Clint after the deputy in charge of the rescue, has been reunited with its mother.
The Salt River Horse group has volunteers on the river all day who can respond to an emergency within 10 minutes. In a Facebook post, it asks visitors to call 480-868-9301 if they experience an emergency.
