PHOENIX — You may not want to hang up your umbrellas just yet, as Phoenix was expected to get more rain this week.

The forecast from the National Weather Service showed that the city has a 40 percent chance of rain Tuesday during the day with it spiking to 80 percent that night.

The report also said that wind gusts could get as high as 25 mph on Tuesday night.

The weather service mentioned that rainfall chances in the western part of the state are lower than south-central Arizona. It said that total rainfall for Tuesday could reach between a tenth and a quarter inch.

The forecast showed that there is a 10 percent chance the rain will continue on Wednesday. But the sky is expected to clear up after that, leading to a clear and sunny end to the work week.

Highs for the rest of the week should stick around the upper-60s and low-70s with a light breeze throughout. Lows at night were expected to be in the mid-40s.

The rain will be greeted with a warm welcome after Arizona saw little rainfall over the past five months.

There was zero measurable rainfall in September, October and November for the first time in 79 years.

While the state did see rain in December and January, it was a small amount. It reached just over two-tenths of an inch in each of those two months.

There have been three-tenths of an inch of rain so far in February.

We want to hear from you.
