PHOENIX — An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper was injured after a pickup truck driven by a man who was under the influence of drugs collided with the officer’s SUV.

According to the Prescott Valley Police Department, the unidentified officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries after 22-year-old Jarrett Tixier allegedly crashed into him in the area of State Route 69 and Kachina Drive.

The trooper, who was not identified, said he was driving northbound on State Route 69 when a Toyota pick-up truck entered the highway directly in front of him.

The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Tixier was not injured in the accident. He was later arrested and charged with one count of driving under the influence, three counts of endangerment, aggravated assault and felony criminal damage.

State Route 69 was closed for approximately five hours while officers completed the investigation and removed debris on Sunday.

It’s not known whether Tixier has an attorney yet who can comment on his behalf.
