PHOENIX — The mother-son team of Bobbie and Adam Dobres is hosting a country music festival on February 24 in conjunction with the Tucson Rodeo.
Headlining acts include Josh Gracin from “American Idol” and Josh Turner, a recording artist from Nashville.
Turner is excited to return to Tucson after playing a show last April at the Pima County Fairgrounds.
“I remember the crowd that night. It was just incredible, so much fun,” said Turner. “There’s a lot of great country music fans. It’s just a cool place to be.”
The Dobres own Desert Entertainment and for a few years have hosted small pub crawls and private parties but decided that it was time to, “go big or go home,” according to Adam.
That is what prompted the idea to host a country music festival.
“My goal is this year, one day; next year, two days; and then three and eventually four days,” said Adam. “Tucson is going to be like, holy smokes, they’ve never seen anything like this before in the past decade.”
The festival will be held at the Tucson Expo Center and tickets can be purchased through Universe.com. According to Facebook, there are 1,600 confirmed who are going to the event and 16,000 interested. All nine performing artists are listed in the slide show below.
