PHOENIX — For those in the Phoenix area who are looking to kick back, relax and, most importantly, not sit in traffic this weekend, you’re in luck.
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced there would be no closures or major lane restrictions for construction or maintenance along Phoenix-area freeways during the President’s Day weekend.
But that does not mean there will not be any closures or restrictions due to accidents or other types of motorist issues.
However, the department is warning motorists to be aware of existing work-zone restrictions, which will remain in place during the holidays, and allow for extra travel time.
Officials are also warning drivers to be aware of the state’s “Move Over” law, which requires drivers to move over at least one lane or slow down when approaching vehicles with flashing lights that are pulled over.
Real-time highway conditions can be followed on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site, by calling 511 and on ADOT’s Twitter.
