PHOENIX — Gila River Arena will host its first-ever UFC Fight Night in just two months’ time, it was confirmed this week.
The event will be held on April 14 at the arena near the Loop 101 and Glendale Avenue in Glendale.
Tickets were expected to go on sale on Friday, though a presale was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday for UFC Fight Club members.
Tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster. The cheapest seats will be sold for $50 and the most expensive will go for $160, though that did not include taxes and fees.
You can also enter to win tickets.
Doors were expected to open at noon on the day of the fights. They will begin a short time after that.
MMA News reported that the card will be headlined by the bout between No. 5-ranked Dustin Poirier and No. 6 Justin Gaethje, who was born in Safford, Arizona.
The preliminary fights will include matches between welterwights No. 12 Carlos Condit and fan favorite Matt Brown. Flyweight Wilson Reis will take on John Moraga, who fights out of Phoenix.
Another fighter who trains in the Valley, Cortney Casey, was also on the card. She’ll fight Michelle Waterson.
At least five other bouts were on the undercard.
The Glendale matches will be aired live on Fox.
Though the April date will be the first UFC Fight Night at Gila River Arena, it is not the first to be held in the Valley. The event was held at Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix four years ago.
